Terrafoam EPE

Rebounding Polyethylene Void Fill for Specialized Geotechnical Applications

Terrafoam EPE is a closed-cell polyethylene compressible fill that absorbs strain from frost heave and swelling soils while maintaining its shape through elastic recovery.

What is Terrafoam EPE?

Terrafoam EPE is a foamed polyethylene void form designed to protect structural concrete elements such as grade beams, structural slabs, and pile caps from subgrade movement. Unlike crushable void forms, Terrafoam EPE compresses elastically and rebounds after loading, helping prevent water accumulation and ice formation beneath concrete elements. The material is manufactured from low-density closed-cell extruded polyethylene, providing excellent freeze/thaw durability, low water absorption, and long-term buoyancy characteristics.

Terrafoam EPE Technical Data

Terrafoam EPE is available in multiple thickness options depending on project requirements.

Chemical Resistance

Terrafoam EPE offers resistance to select hydrocarbon exposures, depending on substance and temperature.
This makes it suitable for certain industrial and energy-related applications where petroleum exposure may occur.

How Does Void Form Work?

Void forms are used to create space beneath structural elements so movement in the underlying soil can occur without transferring damaging pressure into the structure. Beaver offers multiple void form solutions designed for different applications and site conditions:
